Please excuse the vulgarity.

I'm sorry to hear about the car and the emotional stress this has caused you. Gas-guzzling, cock-extending, piece of shit SUVs should be banned from the road and their drivers shot. And other asshole drivers while their at it. Shit like this should not happen.

I hope your grandmother and wife are okay. The trick to getting her to buckle up was beautiful.

Best of luck getting everything figured out with the Focus.

My sympathies and anger.

>partially at fault automatically [...]
>drove through a bus stop at an excessive speed

hmmm. unless yankee law is VERY different, i think you'll find that this is just the policy adopted by the insurance companies as the long-term average result of the law, as a mechanism for reducing cost/admin. you can sometimes get them to step away from this position.
in the first instance, protest very strongly to your own company, accompanying letter with diagrams and if possible photos of the scene. also, if you can get the cops to prosecute the guy for dangerous driving (or similar) you should be automatically removed from any fault-consideration

...had a similar thing happen to me (just me: no relatives/passengers thank god) a few years back, only i was on my motorbike and actually got to do some funky stunt flying
