That was from a few days ago. Everything was healing nicely by then, and the cuts on my eye and cheek were already gone. I’ve healed more since then even. Only my lip inside and outside are making me look like a punk now. I saw the hand specialist today. No surgery required on wrist, just a fracture. Right hand is sprained, so it still takes forever to type. I wear a fancy dealy on the left/broken wrist and a strange glove at night on my right/sprained hand. I am getting put back together by cycling deities daily.

My bike needs new pedals, brake levers and more expensive things it makes me too sad to type now. I never even checked for frame damage. But I get a new one soon enough. If the frames survive, The Duke might be for winter. I need something more upright for my bum wrist when I get back out in a few weeks anyway.

    Surviving is good!
The doc reports all sound pretty good.

Heck of a way to get new bike parts, Johnny. Just go buy you some when you need them. No need for all the crash drama… :)

How the heck did you even get home after it happened?

ryan, i’m a baby and called my dad and his pickup truck to drive me to the er:)

i should totally cop to the fact that when mrs p met me at the er, my MOM came, too — i have very nice and very awesome parents. :)

You do have awesome parents. And as for the “baby” part? Dude, I’d probably STILL be sitting on the ground. Wailing.

    Well, bummer about the bike.

SInce your insurance is involved, are they trying to subrogate with whoever left that pipe on the trail?

I don’t think so. I told them that we called the police and filed what we hoped would amount to a complaint, but I doubt it was enough money for them to pursue it. I wish I had thought to call a police officer when it happened. I kept picturing someone else hitting it, too. Afterward, I felt like a jerk for not staying there to get a police report.

On the other hand, I HOPE my insurance Co will go after someone if they got a hold of anything from the police. At least the pipe got moved:)
